In 1848 a grocer in San Francisco wanted to increase his sales so he rode his horse down the street shouting "Gold! Gold on the American River." The gold strike had been ignored for months but it was a slow news day and a New York newspaper printed the story which was read by a woman named Jane Clifton. People described Jane as "funny turned." She believed women should have the right to vote, to own property, and she was a proponent of "free love." Upon reading about the gold rush Jane dressed in her brother's clothes, looted her father's safe and set off for the gold fields. When she arrived in California most of the land had been claimed so she headed south to San Francisco where she built a saw mill. She began milling wood for the new homes being built for miners who had struck it rich and for entrepreneurs and businessmen. She milled lumber siding for houses and then began to produce doors, windows, flooring and trims for the classic Victorian homes which were in vogue. Today Jane's Classic building components have been reproduced in miniature for your special projects.
My Doll House has a full line of inch scale model building components and supplies. Our experience has taught us that the supplies we carry offer the best value for cost.

In October 1879 Thomas Edison demonstrated the first long lasting electric light bulb. The bulb burned for more than thirteen hours before being turned off, apparently because observers grew tired of watching the light. When Edison was asked to comment on his new invention he was reported to have said "I don't care so much for fortune as I do getting ahead of the other fellow."
After you have completed the exterior of your house it is time to electrify. Always electrify before you wallpaper or finish interior walls.
A doll house which with lights adds a new dimension to your project. Imagine a room with a lit Christmas tree and coals glowing in the fire place or a formal dining room with a handmade chandelier hanging over a table which has been set for a formal dinner.
