TEXTILES OF A HUNDRED YEARS

By Ian Lee

We are fortunate to have a guest speaker who is coming specifically from Singapore to present a talk about antique textiles. He will focus on Chinese robes and accessories from the late Qing Dynasty, with a brief description of daily life of the Han Chinese and Manchu women. He will bring samples of the robes with him, as well as Manchurian court women’s shoes and Han Chinese bound feet shoes. Ian Lee has great interest in Chinese and Japanese textiles; in addition, he will bring some old Malay batiks. Mr. Lee began collecting in the 1980s and has years of experience studying and communicating with textiles collectors from around the world. It is a true treat for us; some of the pieces will be available for sale.
