HMONG THREADS OF LIFE

The Hmong of the Golden Triangle are composed of numerous groups and subgroups that display variations in the way they dress, though many are similar. Their clothing are dyed, embroidered and embellished in a way distinct to each group, preparing clothing to mark their cycle of life. Victoria Vorreiter, an American researcher, photographer and filmmaker, will highlight the traditional garments and fabrication practices of the Hmong in Laos and Thailand through a dynamic presentation enhanced by a wealth of vivid photographs and textiles of the Hmong who create and wear them. It is a rare occasion to have a lecture on the hill tribe people of Thailand.
