We are fortunate to reopen our programs with a presentation by the very talented Khun Prayuth Sirikul, who is in charge of the development of embroidery and craftsmanship at the SIRIVANNAVARI ATELIER AND ACADEMY in the Sukhothai Palace, for HRH Princess Sirivannavari Narirat Ratchakanya’s fashion label SIRIVANNAVARI BANGKOK. Khun Prayuth holds a Master of Arts in Management of Cultural Heritage and Creative Industries degree from Thammasat University. He furthered his studies in the art of embroidery at the advanced level at Lemmiko L*ARTISAN de la Broderie d*art in Tokyo, Japan, and specializes in Luneville embroidery which comprises of various types of tambour embroidery such as using a tambour hook and a crochet de Lunéville, a crochet hook, when performing the chain stitch. These are among the techniques used by François Lesage, a couture embroiderer at Maison Lesage, Paris.
With a passion for the art of embroidery, Khun Prayuth applies ancient Thai embroidery techniques to modern accessories, jewelry and wall art. He has garnered many accolades and recognition in art and design competitions, participated in numerous group exhibitions and gave lectures at a number of well-known art institutes, including Lemmiko in Tokyo where he was trained. The talk and demonstration of embroidery promise to give us an insight into this beautiful and complex form of art.
